What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is one of the most commonly used medical procedures in the world. Originating in China more than 5,000 years ago as an essential part of TCM, acupuncture actually describes a family of procedures involving stimulation of anatomical points on the body by a variety of techniques, the most common, beside "general acupuncture" are: electroacupuncture, moxibustion, and ear acupuncture.

The acupuncture technique that has been most studied scientifically (generally speaking, what most people think of when mentioning the term "acupuncture") involves penetrating the skin with thin, metallic needles that are manipulated by the hands or by electrical stimulation. The extreme thinness and the shape of the needles, ensure that little or no discomfort will be experienced during the treatment. At medical level, the insertion of these very fine needles on the body's surface influences physiological functioning of the body, bringing changes that restore balance and energy in the body's natural processes.

Dr. Tang provides specific acupuncture treatments to address, among others, the following issues: fertility and sterility problems, face rejuvenation, joint and muscle pain, weight management.
